Wireless MPEG-4 VideoTel™

AVT is currently in the process of prototyping its patented MPEG-4 Wireless Video Phone. This multifunctional portable telephone will be the most advanced telecommunications device in the world. Maximizing the convergence of communication, processing and display advancements, it will provide these special features in a single user-friendly handheld device:

  • two-way interactive video conferencing
  • the ability to send and receive faxes
  • the ability to send and receive data and images via e-mail
  • the ability to connect to printers, computers and other devices
  • the ability to do electronic commerce and banking
  • integration with other MPEG-4 communications devices and applications

The only phone you need

Another benefit of the Wireless VideoTel™ is that it will serve all of the telephone needs of the consumer in one unit. That is, when the user is at home, the VideoTel™ will transmit over RF, just like a portable phone connected to a wireline. When the user leaves the home, the VideoTel™ will switch over to cellular/PCS . Finally, when the user moves out of range, the VideoTel™ will automatically switch over to satellite transmission.
